Econo Lodge Inn & Suites El Paso West

I came a long way and couldn't get any rest. The room was filthy and smelled awful, and everything about the stay felt wrong. When I gave reasonable reasons for asking for a refund, the employee refused, which made the whole thing even more upsetting. The staff were rude. I wouldn't recommend this place.

I booked a non-smoking king based on the website photos, but the room looked nothing like them. The bed and stained curtains had cigarette burns. The TV didn’t work, there was no Wi-Fi, and the coffee maker and hair dryer listed as included were missing. Staff said no technician was on site, Wi-Fi sometimes fails, and the hotel was fully booked that night. I documented everything and plan to file an official complaint with the BBB and FTC. The breakfast had quite a few choices: coffee, waffles and syrup, muffins, hard-boiled eggs, toast, Raisin Bran and Froot Loops, strawberry and vanilla yogurt, whole and 2% milk, apple and orange juice, butter, and jam. The lobby and breakfast area were clean, with couches and a big-screen TV. There was laundry on site, plenty of well-lit parking, and a small outdoor pool, though it wasn’t open while we were there. Our first impression was rough. The room smelled like meat starting to spoil mixed with foot odor. Turning on the AC made it tolerable, and after a while I stopped noticing it. The curtains looked dirty, though they may just have been stained. My son’s back was bothering him, so he started making a bed on the floor, but noticed it hadn’t been swept well and some surfaces were dusty. Still, the bedding was clean, we saw no signs of bedbugs or other pests or rodents, and most of the staff were great. Aside from the smell and a little visible damage, I was comfortable and enjoyed the stay. I felt safe, and it seems like a good choice if you have pets.

The breakfast was pathetic, and the room had a broken lamp, an intermittently working elevator, a missing bathroom vent cover, a three-inch hole in the bedspread, and no smoke alarm. We’re Diamond Choice members, and this place is a disgrace to Choice. It’s the only hotel where we should have checked the reviews first.
