Quality Inn & Suites Elgin

I keep choosing this as my Elgin hotel for events and client outings. Check-in and checkout are easy with a great crew, and getting here from the main roads is simple. It's a peaceful place and the stay goes smoothly from beginning to end.

I had to call for another room on the second night because that room also had roaches and the AC was off. On the first night, I walked into a hot room with the AC turned off, then had my husband kill two big roaches while I was heading to the shower. It seems every room has the AC off when you arrive, and the units don't work. If you're fine sleeping with roaches and no AC, this is your hotel. I wouldn't recommend it.

My room was absolutely disgusting, though to be fair, maybe the first floor is the problem since not every room looked like mine. Bugs were coming through gaps by the window curtains, the walls were filthy, and the shower floor was so nasty I put a towel down and showered on that. It was a horrible stay at Quality Inn and Suites, the most ratchet motel I've ever been in.

The breakfast is pretty basic, but it works for a quick bite. I tried the waffle maker for the first time and it worked fine. The room was clean and had what I needed, though the cleaner left an off-putting smell.
