Hilton Garden Inn Elizabethtown, KY

I've stayed here a few times this year and have been happy each time. It's very clean, the staff are great, and the bar and restaurant are good. Getting to it from the interstate is easy, there are other restaurants close by, and the parking lot is well lit.

We picked this as a halfway meeting spot between where I live and where my brother lives, so we could have a drink and visit for his BIRTHDAY. At check-in, we learned the bar was closed on Sunday, although the website hadn't said so. We thought we'd get wine and play cards later instead, but when we came down dressed for the pool, a sign said it was closed. Staff then said a pool light had had a problem the night before and maintenance wouldn't come until Monday. Why wasn't that mentioned when we checked in or before we arrived? In the morning we were told breakfast cost an extra $15.00 per person. Nobody had mentioned that at check-in or when we booked, and Google had listed it among hotels with breakfast included. For $15.00, I could get a buffet at the Shoney around the corner. I expected the Hilton experience and left disappointed.

After driving all day from south FL, I got ZERO sleep in Room 202 because of the Route 65 road noise. The floors were dirty and the room looked dreary. At least the Keurig gave me decent caffeine after that sleepless night, so I gave it 2 stars. I changed the service and review after the owner got in touch and tried to make things right. They acknowledged the issue and said they planned to add something to the rooms to reduce road noise. That accountability means something, and I hope they install some kind of sound buffer.

The service was good, and the rooms were nice. It's right by the interstate, with some good food options next door.
