The staff made a real effort to be friendly and helpful. We were shown which room was ours and how to find it, and I had no problems with them. For a two-star hotel, it wasn't too bad, especially if you just need somewhere to sleep while visiting the city. Breakfast was basic: muffins, fruit, coffee, waffles, and similar items. No meat or eggs, but enough to get something in your stomach. The original breakfast area felt cramped, though an extra section added more seating and a flat-screen TV. The room had older, boxy TVs. The remote could enter a channel number, but couldn't adjust volume, switch the TV on or off, or scroll through channels. I cleaned the jacuzzi tub myself and found bits of hair and other small debris, even though it had looked clean at first. There were plenty of towels. The microwave was an old non-rotating kind, and there was also a refrigerator and an unplugged humidifier. I couldn't tell if it worked. Wi-Fi connected easily and was decent enough for speed. If you're after somewhere fancy, look for a higher-rated place. Service here was good, though.

The best part was the clean room and being just five minutes from work. The bed was stiff enough that I felt every spring, and there wasn't a TV remote. My reservation was wrong, too. They eventually moved me, but only after I'd unpacked. The hotel identity was confusing, since it was a Travel Lodge rather than a Baymont Inn, and it wasn't clear what to look for. For $71 a night, I can't complain too much.

We had a clean, decent hotel, but then we extended our Chicago stay and learned the Super 8 right next door cost less. When I saw how much nicer it was for $40 less per night, I was angry. Baymont needs to raise its game for what it charges. I wish I'd stayed at Super 8 both nights.

This Baymont was just terrible. The rooms felt stuck in the 80s, the so-called continental breakfast was awful, and the airport shuttle took ages. I've stayed at other Baymonts, so I know the chain can do better. The one in Denver, CO could teach this Chicago location a big lesson.
