The Lodge at River Run

The peaceful river setting was a big part of our wonderful stay. Bobbie took such good care of us, with thoughtful service and great food. My wife and I were celebrating our 40th anniversary, and the Lodge was just what we hoped a B&B would be. We'll have to make this an annual trip.

The decor at the Lodge is second to none, and of all the bed and breakfasts we've tried in Banner Elk, this one is the best. We stayed in the Cascades Room and started each day with Bobbie Parks's wonderful gourmet breakfast at 9:00. She's a great host and chef. Before breakfast, I liked sitting on the back deck, listening to the Elk River and watching the birds. At 5 p.m. we'd have a glass of wine before heading out to dinner, and Bobbie was happy to help us find a good restaurant.

The river's calming sound reaches all the bedrooms, and the views are beautiful. The Lodge at River Run is a lovely log cabin and a favorite place for us to get away, rest, and relax in the mountains. Bobbie greets you in such a welcoming way that you feel at home right off the bat. Breakfast smells wonderful each morning, and we'll definitely be back.

Bobbie was a wonderful host and pointed us toward good shops, waterfalls, and a few top restaurants, which didn't disappoint. Breakfast was amazing, too, and I look forward to coming back. The lodge itself is beautiful, and being right next to the river is a fantastic location. You can simply sit, relax, and read, or head out for a hike.
