Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Elk River, MN

The staff are fantastic, breakfast is amazing, and everything was absolutely spotless. The rooms are lovely, from the smaller ones to the suites, and the price feels fair for the amenities and healthy environment. I've stayed here lots of times with my service dog while dealing with a housing issue, and we've always been so welcome. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. If I could give 10,000 stars, I would. I appreciate them so much.

The front desk staff were apologetic and tried their best, but the general manager's response to my injury was shocking. I broke a bone at the hotel on 4/3 because of a faulty pool railing and had to go to the ER. Staff told me the manager was rarely at the hotel because she “works from home,” and she didn't respond even to their attempts to contact her right after I was hurt. She seemed completely indifferent and unhelpful throughout. I asked for a refund for my two-night stay because of the injury and what I see as the hotel's negligence. My mom also had to make an unexpected hour-long drive and stay with my kids while I was in the ER, so I asked for her night's cost back too. The manager refused, saying reimbursement was part of the insurance claim and that I should wait. I have no doubt she doesn't intend to compensate me. She's the manager, so surely she can issue a refund herself. Corporate told me claims and refunds go through her, which made that route feel pointless too. It's hard to believe someone so uncaring works in customer service. I wouldn't recommend this location, and after this painful experience I'm hesitant to stay at a Country Inn and Suites again.

We ate at two great spots right in the parking lot, a diner and a sushi bar and grill, and both were fantastic. The breakfast was great too, with biscuits and gravy, bacon or sausage, eggs, fruit, yogurt, cold cereal, oatmeal, and more. The pool and hot tub felt wonderful and are open year-round. Laundry was affordable for doing it yourself, $1.50 to wash and $2.00 to dry.

The breakfast was a highlight, with bacon, eggs, coffee, cereal, and even a waffle maker. The room was clean and comfortable, with lots of towels, and there was plenty of parking space for our truck and horse trailer. Someone even had a dump truck parked there. My sister and I were driving from Tucson, AZ to Grand Rapids, MN to pick up belongings. We had to make the trip quickly because we'd left our elderly, sick parents back home. We'd slept at truck stops most of the way, but this far north we didn't want to risk freezing in the vehicle, so we stopped at a hotel. The breakfast and the gorgeous fall leaves up north were two of the best parts of the trip.
