Shilo Inn Elko Suites

The price was good, but you’re taking your chances. Smoke drifted in from people smoking right outside the doors, even though smoking wasn’t allowed inside. The lobby and hallways smelled of it. At check-in, one desk worker assigned us a room, then another told her someone had already been put in it. We were moved to a different room, but our group of five found it set up for only three. It wasn’t a major issue, just unprofessional, probably due to lack of training. The facility also needs maintenance. In our room, a past ceiling drywall repair was badly done and still bubbled down. Maybe the patch was too small, or a larger section of ceiling is failing. There was drywall mud stuck in the carpet near the sink. Hallway ceiling tiles were missing in several places, with what looked like leaks, and card readers were coming off doors. Worst of all, the pool handrail had been “repaired” with duct tape. I work at a facility with a pool, and that’s a serious safety violation. The carpets also looked like they hadn’t been extracted in years. I should have read the description more carefully. There’s no mini fridge or microwave in the room. The pool is listed as opening at 0700, but maintenance was still doing chemicals at 0800. No single issue stood out on its own, but the whole stay was unpleasant.
