Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Braunig Lake

The dining room was clean, the food was good, and we had no internet problems. My husband and I stayed at the hotel in December. Supervisor Anna Barrera helped us very professionally, and her staff were friendly too. The room was comfortable, the bed especially, and the bathroom was perfect when I checked it. I also liked how the towels were arranged. It was a pleasure staying there. Thank you, Mrs. Anna Barrea and your staff. I highly recommend it.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, but the room was absolutely horrible. It reeked of Pine-Sol, the floor was slick with cleaner, and the chair was wet when I sat down. There wasn't a sign to say it might have just been cleaned. One look at the tub was enough for me to tell my husband I wasn't showering in it. See the added picture. They should be ashamed to charge for room 115.

At about $85 a night, the price seemed fair for today's market. The Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Braunig Lake is at 13800 I-37, Elmendorf, TX 78112. I stayed in room 220, a king room. It was quiet, with no traffic or neighbors heard, and I didn't see bugs. The room felt safe, the parking lot was well lit, and it was clean and average overall. It looked older, though the bed and TV seemed updated. The firm spring mattress was comfortable, the pillows were soft, and there were no marks around the sink. The bathroom was tiny, with the toilet up against the door, but it flushed well. The shower looked rough and the tub bottom had been repaired. The tub floor felt unstable, though the shower pressure was good and felt great first thing in the morning. The wall mounted TV worked well, had a clear picture and HBO movie channels. The small gated pool looked very clean. Breakfast was small, with some basic food.

I stayed for about a minute before walking out and getting a refund. I felt unsafe traveling alone, especially with the motel style rooms opening to the outside while checking in late at night. The room was hot and had a strong smell of weed mixed with cleaning supplies, though it was otherwise clean. When I said I didn't want to change rooms and wanted my money back because I wasn't comfortable, the guy at the register refunded me. I've stayed at lots of hotels in my travels, but this was the only one I left right away. I drove home instead and called it good.
