Oceanview Inn

Great spot, and the owners are awesome. Support an independently owned motel over a chain. The food cooking in the house behind the check-in desk smelled delicious.

The location was the only good thing about this place. We’d been in the car for no more than two minutes after arriving when a small-framed woman with salt-and-pepper hair and a cordless phone berated us for using the parking lot to turn around. It was a disgusting welcome to Emerald Isle. We cancelled right away and booked an Airbnb down the road.

We stayed two nights for a cheap, last-minute beach trip. The room was basic and clean enough, though not perfect. It was fine for sleeping, but I wouldn’t plan to spend much time in it. The beach is a bit of a hike, though their 250-yard claim is accurate. I was tempted to take off a star for the location, but it’s Emerald Isle, an area we like a lot, and hotel or motel options are limited since most places are rental houses. It’s handy for Bogue Inlet pier and restaurants, many of which are walkable even for old folks like us. Good choice for a couple days of pier fishing. The staff were friendly enough. Our room key gave us a little trouble, but they sorted it quickly. Things happen, and when they’re taken care of fast, it’s no big deal.

We liked OceanView Inn so much that we stayed an extra night, and plan to return on future visits to Emerald Isle. The location is perfect, with beach views and less than 100 feet to the beach, plus nearby amenities. Amanda, the manager, was incredibly helpful and sweet. Check-in was easy, and we got any assistance we needed. At 11 pm I left my key in the room, and a gentleman at the front desk helped me quickly. The room was immaculate, and the staff were amazing and helpful. The price was even better. Don’t listen to all the negative reviews. Thanks, OceanView Inn, for making our vacation even better!
