Sierra Woods Lodge

That restaurant on site was a welcome surprise, with lots of good choices and an easy option after a long day on the mountain. I stayed here for a ski trip to Boreal Mountain and found the place comfortable and welcoming, well worth the money. It’s a small, honestly run hotel, and the owners clearly care about their guests. I enjoyed my stay and am already planning to return on my next ski trip.

For a short stop, this place works well for getting some rest, since there isn't much else within a few miles. I stayed one night while passing through. It gets busy in ski season, but there seemed to be plenty of availability in spring, outside the season. The room was basic and on the small side. Rooms 9 and 10 might be quieter since they're farther from the road. The restaurant has some nice food choices, though I didn't try them. It doesn't have a bar or serve alcohol, in case you were hoping for a drink after driving or skiing.

Just to be clear, this is not a resort. Bad weather made it a last minute stop for us, and we booked through a third party for $180. The extremely antiquated room was only 200 square feet and barely fit a queen and twin bed. It was down two staircases, and there was no heat in the bathroom. Reception was very nice and helpful.

It's a comfortable place at a great price and location, not too far from Boreal/Woodward. The wall heater may work a bit too well, since we switched it off before bed. And don't leave food in the car. Bears are known to wander into the parking lot late at night!
