The Inverness Denver, a Hilton Golf & Spa Resort

The breakfast was pretty good, though service fell short and we had to go ask for coffee. Downstairs, the restaurant served decent food, and the bar stayed open late. The hotel itself was pretty good and in a nice location, but the rooms could use an update. It’s technically only 30 minutes from the airport, but Denver traffic made the drive almost 50 minutes. Plan for that.

The staff were mostly okay. Some seemed unsure of what they were doing, while others were experienced and very nice, and the valet was prompt. But the room was just alright: the beds were clean and there was a mini fridge, though the shower was a stand-up only and had very dirty grout. The closet was small and ramshackle, with a stubborn wooden panel door that creaked when I got it open. Upstairs, the low, slanted ceiling made the catwalk from the elevator feel cramped and strange. I couldn’t eat or take my medicine for eight hours because there was no complimentary water except from the bathroom tap. There was no water dispenser in the lobby, and nobody was at the coffee shop to ask. The market and mini fridge prices were outrageous, over $50 for two snacks and two bottles of water, so I waited until dinner at the wedding I was attending that day. The first night I’d stayed at a cheaper nearby hotel that was much more spacious, had continental breakfast, and was a far better experience. Here, you’re paying more for the restaurant and venue. I expected more for the price. I’d call it okay or acceptable, but wouldn’t recommend it.

The service and rooms were terrible, despite this being called a four-star resort. There was no microwave in the room. On Christmas Day, the front desk said in-room dining was available, but when we tried to order, we got sent to voicemail. I called the desk and was told they’d contacted the manager and we’d hear back in five minutes. Nobody called. Burger King was the only place open, so that’s what we ate. I’ll never stay at a Hilton again!

The staff were clean, polite, and very helpful, and there are excellent choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My room was nice, though it could use a bit of updating. The accommodations were very nice.
