The grounds were lovely, with a little pond that freezes over in winter and plenty of parking. My room was clean and spacious, with mostly new-looking furniture, a hot shower, and a bed more comfortable than most hotel beds I’ve had. Check-in was easy, and the staff member who helped me was friendly. I was there for one night after a concert at the Stanley, in a lower-level room in a building away from the office. The breakfast selection had already run low when we arrived around 8:30 or 9, so go earlier if you want the full choice. The more serious concern came overnight: we woke to screaming and banging from the next room. It was frightening, and we called the police because we worried about that guest’s safety and our own. By the time they arrived, it had gone quiet. There’s no staff staying on the property, so no one there knew what was happening. Those lower-level rooms have sliding glass doors with only a latch, which didn’t feel secure in that situation. A deadbolt or folding security bar would help.

We came for a nearby show during winter and got room 101, directly below the check-in and breakfast area, even though other rooms seemed vacant. It’s okay for one night, I guess, but I wouldn’t come back. It’s a motel, and you get what you pay for. Avoid 101.

After talking with the manager, we were moved to a better room and upgraded at no extra cost. I’d complained about 101 because it’s right beneath the lobby, where people have breakfast in the morning. I was too quick to judge before asking what options we had. The place is very nice and the staff were friendly. Just keep in mind that mornings in room 101 can be noisy.

The views are fantastic, and you’re close to everything happening in Estes. A couple of practical things were frustrating: our reserved parking spot was occupied, and the spots outside the rooms weren’t marked, only the ones inside the rooms. The TV wasn’t connected; after we hooked it up ourselves, just one channel worked. Continental breakfast included coffee but no other drinks.
