We didn’t spend the night at The Stanley Hotel, but we explored the property, had drinks on the veranda, and took in the spectacular views of Estes Park and the mountains. The setting alone makes it worth visiting. You don’t need a room reservation to see the public areas, learn about the hotel’s history, and take in the atmosphere. The place is an elegant, welcoming piece of Colorado history, with wonderful architecture and a mysterious feel. I’m a writer, and I loved seeing how a real location could spark a story that became a classic. Learning about the connection to Stephen King’s The Shining was a highlight. Our friend from the United Kingdom is a big fan, and seeing her excitement as she explored and learned about the novel’s history made the visit even more fun. Fans of the book will find something special in seeing the place that helped inspire it. Whether you’re into literature, history, architecture, or simply a drink with an incredible view, The Stanley offers a memorable visit. I highly recommend it to visitors to Estes Park. 📚 Deborah Shoemaker (Clarissa Chiffon), creator of Salz & Peppa: The Missing Pizza 🐾🍕🔍

There was plenty to do around the property, and we stayed busy: ghost tours, paranormal investigations, magic shows, spa services, shopping, a whiskey store, a chocolate shop, and Cascades Restaurant & Bar. The staff were friendly, and the whole place felt like an experience beyond just a hotel. I’d definitely return. We stayed on the 4th floor of the main hotel, and the room was very clean and well kept. It honestly smelled freshly bleached when we arrived, which I appreciated. We were in the most haunted part of the hotel, but nothing spooky happened in our room. The seance, though, blew my mind and made me a believer. It was easily one of the most memorable parts of the trip.

Nate, the manager, made our stay so enjoyable. We needed an early check-in to get ready for a wedding, and he went out of his way to make it happen smoothly. His friendly manner, professionalism, and willingness to help made a stressful day much easier. That kind of customer service really stands out. We’d recommend The Stanley Hotel and look forward to staying again.

My sister and I spent the weekend at The Stanley Hotel to visit the venue for her summer wedding, and we had a great time. Heather from the wedding planning team was knowledgeable and incredibly helpful, and made us even more excited for the wedding. The atmosphere was unforgettable, with a beautiful property and wonderful staff. We even had some ghostly activity, mostly on the floors rather than in our room. The spirits seemed friendly and just wanted us to know they were there! Savanna led our ghost tour and made the hotel’s history and stories fun, entertaining, and educational. Bartenders Frank and Krista were so welcoming and friendly, and made some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. They brought so much warmth and fun to the stay that we went back to see them a couple of times. Can’t wait to return this summer!

I didn’t stay overnight, but spent a few hours admiring the buildings and taking in the atmosphere. As a big Stephen King fan, visiting had been on my bucket list. We took the Shining tour, which I highly recommend. They showed us around the campus and shared facts about the property and how King got the idea for the novel. At the end, our whole group saw a door swing halfway shut by itself. If you’re at all interested in the area, the hotel, or King, I definitely recommend a visit.
