We loved Eureka Springs and found the staff helpful with everything we needed. From the Lotus House, downtown was a short half-mile walk, and a trolley stop is just down the street. The house seems to date from the late 1800s, though that’s my guess, and it’s been made rustic but comfortable. The bed was great, and the place was tranquil. Our only complaint was the cooling noise in our upstairs suite. Three window air conditioners kept it cool, but running constantly got a little annoying. A multi-room split air system upstairs would reduce that noise. It didn’t take away from our stay, and we’d come back when we have the chance.

What really stood out was the service. After I got home, I realized I’d left a couple of shirts in the closet. I messaged to ask whether they’d found them, and the next day they replied that they’d package up the clothes and send them back. The suite also gave us plenty of privacy, with our own balcony where we could sit and hear music from a local bar. They didn’t play past 10:00. There’s a separate kitchen for a quiet cup of coffee before heading out, and my wife finally got to enjoy a proper relaxing bath again, not just one for cleaning. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Eureka Springs.

At $347, I wouldn’t stay here again, especially if cleanliness matters to you. The cottage is cute at first glance, and the fixtures and atmosphere are nice, but closer inspection turned up a lot that needed a good wipe down. There were dark marks on the sheets in both bedrooms, questionable white spots on the king bed comforter, and a hair under the queen bed sheets. The old floorboards squeaked terribly, especially outside the bathroom and in the queen bedroom. You could hardly move without hearing them, which got really annoying. For our one-night family stay at Eureka Zen, the uncovered windows also made us feel exposed all night, including one right outside the bathroom. That might not bother everyone. The front door was difficult to close and lock properly, and its locks didn’t feel reinforced. At first the apartment seemed nice, but there were too many areas that fell short.

We’ve stayed in one of these cottages three times and have enjoyed each visit. The older homes are cute and charming, with some modern updates, useful amenities, and a welcoming atmosphere. They’re close to most places, so you can walk around downtown. Booking is easy and communication is great. I was especially happy to see that wishing Star’s bathroom had been updated since our last stay. I highly recommend these quaint cottages for a relaxing place to rest during your visit.

The personal touch is what made this place so worthwhile, and I’m already planning another vacation. The owner offered me an upgrade almost as soon as I made the reservation, and my second-floor room had a wraparound balcony. I watched three deer eating in the front yard for 15 minutes that night, until a car scared them away. Downtown was less than five minutes away, and parking was available at their other location. You won’t find a better place.
