Ozarka Lodge

It was a horrible stay from start to finish. The bed skirt had blood stains, and the microwave was filthy inside. As a housekeeper, I pay attention to cleanliness, and this room wasn't clean. The woman at the front desk was rude, and despite my husband and me already being there, they assigned our room to three other guys too. There was no power at all, and staff had no idea when it would come back. After a couple of hours, we decided to leave. Since the electricity was out, the front desk hadn't charged my card, but the woman refused to offer any discount or refund. We hadn't even touched the beds and had sat outside our room the whole time. Awful experience.

The road noise was the downside, and it's not pet friendly. Breakfast is very basic and doesn't start until 7:30, so I'd find somewhere else to eat. Still, this older hotel has comfortable beds and pillows, a great pool, and very clean bathrooms. The AC, coffee pot, fridge and microwave all worked perfectly. Service is top notch, and the manager honored the online price without sending me through bookings.com. It's not expensive, and I'd come back when traveling without my pup.

The room was average and had a decent view, but we felt we were misled about the pool. We made clear that swimming with our kids was important and were told we could use it. Once we arrived, the housekeeper said the pool was fine because he'd just swum in it, while the owner said it wasn't ready and we couldn't swim. Then they told us, "Well, swim at youre own risk." I won't stay here again or recommend it.

The bathroom was a real plus: clean, bright tile, a clean bathtub, and a modern sink with useful counter space. You don't always get those things, even at a chain like Best Western.
