Breakfast was included and delicious, with just the right portions. The staff we saw in the morning were friendly, kind, helpful, and professional. We slept very well each night, with plenty of pillows, good water pressure, and a shower head that felt like it was massaging my back. The bathrobe was soft and comfortable, and the room had quality amenities. We arrived very late, but after we contacted the staff, they sent clear instructions for getting into the Inn and our room. We were exhausted, so it was a lovely surprise to find a simply but elegantly decorated room. I look forward to returning to Carter House Inn and Restaurant, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful stay. I kept forgetting to take before photos, so the bed and bathroom in my pictures aren’t as they were when we arrived.

The inn has an old-school BnB feel in a historic building, but there’s an elevator, so we could get our luggage and dog crate up to the room easily. Our suite also had a window AC for summer. In the morning, fog rolled in and wrapped the view, including the Victorian buildings in the distance, in a beautiful, mysterious mist. A walk around the neighborhood takes about 15 minutes and passes the notable buildings. We stopped for one night on a drive down the coast with our pup. We arrived very late, hungry and exhausted, but the staff took our dinner order and we got a restful night’s sleep. The dinner was amazing, breakfast had fruit and healthy options, and the tea selection was excellent. There’s dedicated parking at the back and a couple of spaces in front. As a precaution, remember to empty the car, since the city has an unhoused population.

The six-course Valentine’s dinner at Restaurant 301 was incredible, and we loved every bite. Breakfast each morning was just as delicious. Staff were kind and welcoming, the location was convenient with plenty to do nearby, and we appreciated being able to bring our dog. We had such a lovely Valentine’s and anniversary getaway at Carter House Inns. The package included chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne waiting in our room, and the jacuzzi tub made the stay feel extra special and relaxing. A special stay all around. Definitely five stars!

We spent a cozy evening by the fire with complimentary wine and cookies, then woke up to complimentary breakfast. Every person we met was warm and helpful, the service was phenomenal. They’ve created a wonderfully warm, cozy atmosphere that feels rare these days. It suits the old building and makes the stay worth far more than the price. Highly recommend!

We rented the whole house for New Year’s Eve with four couples, and it was a perfect way to ring in the new year. The Inn is spectacular, and the staff are always amazing. Be sure to spend some time with Ian at the bar. I’d highly recommend it, even for a staycation!
