The GEM was the best find of our Chicago trip. The museum-style hallways and rooms were spacious and very clean, and Northwestern’s beautiful campus is within walking distance. There’s a lovely, well-kept garden in the courtyard, too. Breakfast was included, and felt like fine dining. Highly recommend.

The complimentary breakfast, served from 8 to 11 a.m., was a highlight for my husband and me. Andrea was so sweet and friendly. Even with a busy breakfast room, she greeted us with a big smile and kept our coffee cups filled. Bravo to Andrea. We came to Evanston to send our ‘Cat off to NU and stayed at the Gem for two nights. Our cozy room was nice, and we slept very well. We’ll definitely return whenever we visit our ‘Cat at NU.

Everyone at the GEM Museum and Suites was kind and helpful. We had a minor problem with our room, and they sorted it out right away. The included daily breakfast was excellent, and we liked being close to both the University and downtown. We had a great stay.

Ted and Carmine deserve special thanks for going above and beyond. The staff were wonderful, the place was beautiful and clean, and the dining experience was exquisite. Being close to transportation hubs also made getting around easy. The hospitality here was second to none.

The breakfast was five-star dining, nothing like packaged eggs or an overcooked buffet. For our anniversary, management left us a gift basket and note, which made the trip feel special. The place felt like staying in someone’s guest room, warm rather than like a busy, impersonal chain hotel. I definitely plan to return. As a bonus, the Home Alone house is a 15-minute drive away. Thank you for making our anniversary trip special!
