Hyatt Place Fair Lawn/Paramus

Back for my second stay at Hyatt place, and I’m happy here again. It’s reasonably priced and works perfectly for visiting the area, with lots of good restaurants and malls nearby and easy access to NYC. The rooms are great, as I’ve found at the other Hyatt Places I’ve stayed in, and the staff are helpful. Breakfast looks good, but with so many great bagel places around, I can’t spare the calories for it. I’ve only had rooms at the back of the property, so I didn’t notice highway noise. The rooms facing the front might get some.

We had a good view of trees and green space from our room at the back, and road noise wasn’t an issue for us, though I know others have mentioned it. The room was clean and didn’t seem worn or dated. Staff were really friendly, and there’s plenty of parking, even if getting in and out of the lot is a hassle. The location is convenient. Breakfast was fine, nothing special, but enough to get the day going. For one night with two kids and two adults, it worked well. I probably wouldn’t stay longer than a few days.

The little bar and food area, I think it’s called the placery, was a pleasant surprise. The food and drinks were really good, and the staff were polite. The hotel and rooms were clean, well maintained, and smelled so nice. You could tell from the hallway walls and carpet as soon as you walked in that the manager and staff cared about cleanliness. I did have an issue with my booking: I reserved one king room, but they gave my room away. The front desk person said rooms aren’t promised when you book and called mine last minute, though it wasn’t. I didn’t appreciate that comment, but we made the best of it.

Fair Lawn February 14 2026: We were disappointed to find out only after arriving that the pool was unavailable. Before booking, we had specifically asked about it because the pool was an important reason for choosing this hotel, but nobody told us it had been closed since September. If we’d known, we would have booked somewhere else. A major advertised amenity that’s been closed for a long time should be disclosed clearly before guests arrive. I hope the hotel communicates better about unavailable amenities in the future.
