Best Western Plus Fairfield Hotel

I spent 8 days here because of a medical emergency with my wife. The place was very clean and quiet, and the staff, manager included, were courteous and friendly. The breakfast area is small, but everything was good. It’s near the highway, though I didn’t hear any traffic noise. This is one of the best Best Westerns I’ve stayed at. Highly recommended.

The hallway reeked of cigarette smoke in the afternoon and got worse into the evening. I called the front desk twice to complain, and saw the staff member spraying air freshener around the hall. I’m not sure why she couldn’t confront the people breaking the hotel policies. In my room, the strong, cheap air freshener smell lasted all two days I was there. I finally rolled up a towel and put it at the bottom of the door to keep the smoke smell out. I won’t stay there again.

We couldn’t sleep on any of the four nights. The first night, people in the next room partied all night, talking loudly, laughing, shouting, and slamming doors. The same thing kept happening on the following nights. Breakfast was a disappointment too. The dishes were cardboard and plastic, and the only thing to eat was pancakes, despite people paying for it. At check-in, the woman at reception was incredibly impolite, arrogant, and deliberately cold, as if she thought we were inferior. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever seen.

The room was fairly nice and clean during the couple of days I stayed, but there were a lot of problems. Housekeeping did a poor job vacuuming the rug, and the towels weren’t very clean. The housekeepers were on the phone with some guy while working, which seemed unprofessional. Someone inspected the room while I was in the bathroom, which felt very disrespectful. The shower head was broken when I arrived and wasn’t fixed until days later. The water was either too hot or too cold. Snack prices were high, breakfast suddenly stopped, and there was some kind of crack or leak in the ceiling.
