Drury Inn & Suites St. Louis Fairview Heights

I needed to get my kids out of there right away. The whole property reeked of pot, with people smoking in the pool and in the first-floor hallways. It felt completely out of control, and I didn’t think talking to the front desk could fix it. I’ve stayed at Drury properties for years and never had a stay that wasn’t excellent, so this was unreal. Ludwig drive has had issues like this for years, and I think this property should close and reopen somewhere that fits the usual Drury values and service.

There’s plenty to do within a five-minute drive, and Bob Evans next door is handy for any meal if you’d rather skip the hotel’s free breakfast. The room was clean, and the heat worked well. The indoor-outdoor swim-through pool and hot tub were nice features. One thing I couldn’t get past: the water from the soda and juice machine tasted like straight bleach, no matter which flavor I tried.

We travel for work, and this was a great stay. The rooms were roomy and quiet, the beds comfortable, and everyone on staff was polite and helpful. The evening kickback includes free dinner from 5:30-7, plus each guest gets a card for three free drinks at the bar during that time. They also put out popcorn at 4, which helps tide you over until dinner. If we can, we’ll stay at Drury whenever we travel from now on.

The place looked decent at first, but we came away with some kind of bed bug, or possibly scabies. All of us are itching like crazy. The treatment has cost me more than the stay. Breakfast was missing items because their delivery arrived late. I’d have rated the place much higher without the infestation. I wouldn’t stay there again even if someone paid me.
