Super 8 Fairview Heights St. Louis

The location is great, but that was the only good part for me. At check-in, the staff member acted as if I were a bother. She was on her personal phone and wouldn't pause the call long enough to check me in. The rooms were somewhat dirty. It was clear they hadn't vacuumed well, and there were dried boogers on the shower wall. I found blood stains on the pillowcases and sheets. I checked for bugs and didn't find any. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

I booked one night with early check-in because I work overnight and needed somewhere to sleep before going back to work that evening. I arrived just before 9 a.m. and fell asleep, but at 11 staff pounded on my door and opened it, saying checkout time had come. I explained that I'd only just checked in, and they apologized. The room clearly hadn't been cleaned before I got there. There was trash all over the bathroom and clumps of hair in the shower. I was also charged twice for $80, apparently for two nights, instead of one night plus the $30 early check-in fee. Communication with staff wasn't great, and I think they charged me for the other stay after trying to check me out two hours in. For what I paid and the room's condition, I'd go down the street to Drury or Fairfield.

The check-in woman was nice, and things seemed fine at first. But the smell of pot throughout the hotel was overwhelming. In our room, there was a lot of water damage, apparently from a burst pipe at some point, and it looked like they'd just patched it up. A trash bag was hanging from the ceiling to cover a hole. The bed was hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. We had only one towel for two people, so we went to the desk to ask for another. They questioned us and said we had to bring down the used towels before they'd issue more. We won't be back.

We had booked a non-smoking room, but the room we were given smelled like cigarette smoke. The front desk man still told us it was non-smoking. He said they'd left the door open to air it out because the carpet was too dry. The beds hadn't been made, and we had to go back to the desk for pillowcases. The smoke smell was so bad we covered our faces all night. The heater also made a loud noise every time it started. It's the worst hotel I've stayed at.
