Quality Inn Spring Mills - Martinsburg North

The room was only spot cleaned, not given a proper deep clean, and I found mouse poo. The mattresses were badly stained with what looked like bodily fluids, and I assume there was dog urine too. Floors were dirty, appliances were broken, and the bedding smelled like smoke. They blame things on renovations, but those are done. The breakfast was rubbery eggs and sausage. The weight room is just dumbbells, a bike, and one inline bench. The cleaners didn't understand English very well. They say they're dog friendly, but there were no poo bags, and the trash out in the field and behind the dumpster was out of control.

I was visiting a friend who had recently been released from the hospital, and the front desk clerk limited the visit to 10 minutes at first, then allowed 20. We ended up having to leave, which cut short our time together. I wasn't happy with that interaction. If you've paid for a room, I feel you should be able to do what you want within reason, provided you're not disturbing anyone.

The bathroom was clean, but I felt uneasy in the shower without a handrail and worried I might slip with nothing to grab. Please add handrails! My room itself was clean and had no smell. There was a small issue with the assigned room, but it got sorted quickly and efficiently. The bed was comfortable, though I brought my own pillow, so I can't comment on theirs. The TV worked fine. The fridge was warm even on its highest setting, and heat rolled out when I opened the cabinet it was in. Take it out of the cabinet! Breakfast was fine except for other guests leaving messes. A tween girl spilled waffle mix and didn't wipe it up. If you spill something, clean it! I blame that on bad parenting. All in all, a nice stay.

The breakfast area is roomy and had a good selection, and the staff are very personable. The hotel has been remodeled and looks attractive, with the rooms and grounds well kept. The pool was sparkling clean. We're definitely happy with our stay so far. There are only about four chairs by the pool and it could use tables and umbrellas, but no complaints. Definitely a great find.
