Clarion Inn Falls Church - Arlington

Having daily housekeeping was a real plus, since that's getting harder to find. The housekeepers did a great job, and the room was kept clean, supplied with fresh linens, and had a mini fridge. Staff throughout the hotel were kind, welcoming, and professional. Breakfast had a great range of choices, and the location puts you close to everything. There's even a laundromat right across the street. I had a comfortable, pleasant stay and would come back.

The staff were extremely nice, the rooms had decent space, breakfast tasted good, and the free shuttle was very nice. But we called the police after something happened right outside our window in the middle of the night. There's a nightclub or bar attached to the hotel, and my dad saw dead roaches. The beds slanted, the sinks were awkward to use, and the shower pressure was poor. Not the worst place, though definitely not the best.

The receptionists were friendly and helpful, and there's free parking right in front. Clarion Inn is on Falls Church Ace in a safe, quiet, clean area of Arlington, Virginia. The two-level layout has rooms with double entrance and exit doors, which is convenient, but be sure to shut both at night. Requested wake-up calls and other services worked, with the room phone ringing very loudly. There's a small, clean gym. My two-queen room was a bit tight for four, but had what we needed: a coffee and tea maker, microwave, and small fridge, though mine barely worked. The bathroom had a tub, soap, and plenty of towels, changed daily on request. Housekeepers were rude, though they did the job properly. Ask the front desk if you need service, and don't put the paper sign on the door or they won't come in. Nearby options are just Walgreens/CVS and iHope. Breakfast was the same typical fare each day, and the hotel's cafe also serves lunch and dinner. The shuttle only runs for limited hours, so ask the front desk when it's available.

We booked based on the good reviews on Booking, and I don't know what hotel those reviewers stayed at. This was vile and awful, and I can't recommend it. After I posted this review on Booking, the owner said they'd watched our check-in video and essentially called me a liar, saying it looked "normal." I kept my composure because I'm an attorney and treat this kind of rudeness as a complaint. They defended the clerk but said nothing about the disgraceful, damp room. I've contacted Clarion head office because I find the manager's gaslighting behavior disgraceful. Maybe it says something about this hotel. We've road-tripped through 8 states and checked into 11 hotels of all grades and prices. Most staff had been pleasant and professional. Here, the receptionist was vile and unprofessional: no greeting or smile, and when I got confused by the information she wanted, she looked annoyed and tapped her long, black pointed nails on the keyboard. The area felt very sketchy, and there were clearly people living in the hotel. The room was an adequate size and clean, but reeked of damp. The longer we stayed, the damper it felt, and the air conditioning smelled terrible. We should have walked out, but didn't want to ask the angry receptionist for another room. Luckily it was only one night. By morning the whole room felt wet. New furniture and decoration don't fix apparent building defects or air conditioning that needs servicing. We got up early and couldn't wait to leave. We skipped breakfast because we didn't feel we could trust what would come out.
