We rented the whole Green Family mansion for our class reunion, and it was a great time. The grounds are astounding, with an old abandoned mill just a block away. Cabins by the old bridge can also be rented. The mansion is out in the boon docks of KY, surrounded by lovely nature and quiet. The rooms are big, and almost all have their own bathroom. Mine didn’t, but the hall bathroom was clean and large, with a clawfoot tub. It took me a bit to figure out the water. There’s a full kitchen for cooking.

The golf course is still in transition and clearly recovering from disrepair, though the greens were fine. A kitchen was open on Saturday, and the food was really good. They said beer sales were coming soon. We stayed in a nice, clean, well-stocked cabin for three days with an unlimited golf package I bought on Cincy Savers. We could keep a golf cart with us, and there was a place by the water for a small bonfire. Fishing was good right outside the cabin. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

We were there for a wedding, with the ceremony out front and the reception behind the mansion, which the couple had rented in full. It’s a well-kept home from the 1800s, with large rooms, beautiful craftsmanship, and nice decor. Everything was clean. In 98-degree weather, the AC couldn’t keep the upstairs rooms cool with the door shut, though that was understandable.

So much to do for nature lovers, golfers, and horse enthusiasts, and it made for a great little trip. We stumbled on this place and haven’t felt this rested after a stay in years. The bed is comfy, the staff are kind and friendly, and the food is simple and just right for a B and B. For breakfast, stay in the mansion, not the cabins. Highly recommend. I also posted this under green mansion since it’s on the property.

We only had one night, and I wish we’d stayed longer. The setting at Rough River Dam Resort State Park is beautiful, with a gift shop and restaurant. The rooms are rustic, and I liked the black makeup removal washcloth. We also took a morning walk on the hiking trail.
