D'Arbonne Lake Motel

At 11 pm I took my dog out, and the upstairs resident had left her dog off leash on the property. It attacked mine several times, and I had to carry my dog back while yelling for the other one to stay away. That dog barked outside my room all night, trying to get in through a door that wouldn’t lock. Earlier, I’d found the lock broken, the shower not working, and cigarette burns all over the comforter. I asked for help with the lock, but even though only three people were staying there, they refused to move me. They handed me a pipe to brace the door and said it “was safe.” After all that, I asked for a refund and was refused. They called it a “personal matter” and said they “never have issues with her.” I’m assuming the woman lives there every day. I felt practically robbed. Everything about the place was trashy, unsafe, and unsanitary. Owning a building doesn’t make it a motel.

I’d only stay here again if it were a last resort. The room was somewhat clean, but the metal bed frame was noisy. There was no coffee anywhere on the property, so bring your own. A doorknob-sized hole in the sheetrock had tape pushed into it, and the curtain was torn.

That lake view was gorgeous, and the room was clean and spacious. The staff and owners were kind, always waving. I went in with low expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. My one wish is for thicker blankets on the bed. Otherwise, it felt like a little piece of heaven.

We come here pretty often to visit family, and the rooms have had some recent updates. No complaints from us. The front desk worker is always friendly and kind.
