I showed up without a reservation after 12 hours in my car, exhausted, and was in a room and showered within half an hour. It was quiet enough, there were no service issues, and I got the rest I needed before heading out. I wouldn’t choose it for a vacation or business trip, but it worked for the last minute layover I needed. The place wasn’t the cleanest, though they tried. I found a hair in the bed while checking for bedbugs, but found none; the hair was probably transferred when they remade the bed. The furnishings were dated and worn, and the shower gave me the ick, even though the pressure and hot water were great and all the essentials were supplied. My room had three entry points, which seemed odd and bothered me briefly.
I’ve stayed here many times before, and it’s normally clean with service that fits the price. Recently, though, I booked and paid in full for five nights for an employee who was a domestic violence victim and needed somewhere safe. The hotel refused her check-in because she only had a debit card for the $100 deposit. I can understand that, but they also refused a refund and kept the full payment, even though she never used the room and it was available to rent. I don’t think denying the reservation and keeping the entire prepaid amount was proper or ethical, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel. Decide for yourself what their motives were. How about donating the $200 to a local nonprofit? The business unethically kept it, and I WILL PERSONALLY MATCH THE DONATION. That would be an easy, correct option for a business in the community.
The room was clean and nice, the beds were very comfortable, and the two women who checked us in were extremely friendly. We brought our dog, and I loved the linoleum instead of carpet. It’d be nice if all the rooms had that flooring. My husband said breakfast was very good, though I didn’t try it. I gave fewer than five stars because the shower handle was extremely loose. It took me a while to get hot water on, and my husband couldn’t get cold water. On Saturday, the blow dryer didn’t work, so I went to the desk for another. The gentleman there didn’t seem to know what to do and wanted to come to our room instead of handing me one. That struck me as odd, but I let him come down because I had a reunion to get to. How hard is it to hand someone a blow dryer? After I left, I used my key to return for something I’d forgotten, but it didn’t work. I had to go back to the desk. He acted like I didn’t know how to use it. I told him we were there for two nights, and he looked it up before giving me another key. I think he needs to be reprimanded and taught the job again.
The room and the amount of space were great, though it got a little noisy at times. The only odd thing was the heater: when it reached the right temperature and shut off, it made a sound like a whining dog powering down. Still, it was a really good experience.
Breakfast was rock! The area was nice and the location was good, and the bathroom was clean. The second lock was broken, which is why I gave four stars, but we felt safe during our two nights there. It was quiet, and the friendly staff had reminders about safety, including personal items in the car and the driveway or parking area. I felt they helped make our stay safer and good. I also found a Bible in a table drawer, which gave me something to read before bed and when I woke up 🙏. Love the area and rooms.
