The hotel itself is nice, and there are plenty of nearby fast-food places, including Apple Bees and Waffle house. There’s another hotel close by, but this is the one I’d pick. Breakfast costs extra and really isn’t worth it, so you’re better off at Waffle house. Nobody seems to stay at the desk, and getting coffee after 10am is a challenge. They are NOT coffee drinker friendly.
The rooms were fairly quiet, but they needed some upkeep. There was rust on the door frames and other minor damage, and the gym had only basic equipment. The hotel is tucked behind a shopping center, with lots of restaurants just a few minutes away by car. IHOP and Applebee’s are around a 3-5 minute walk. There’s a restaurant on site with a limited menu, and breakfast is ordered from the menu and paid for, unlike at some IHG hotels. The restaurant staff were very friendly and professional, though some items weren’t available because of ingredient shortages. My experience at the front desk was mixed. Staff often didn’t greet people coming in, and one person seemed to be looking at a cell phone every time I passed. Overall, the Holiday Inn & Suites W-Ft Bragg was acceptable, but not my best IHG experience.
Our room was subpar and had broken furniture. I called the front desk and was left on hold for 30 minutes. When I went down to explain, the associate claimed I’d hung up, but I hadn’t. I made a request about the furniture and went back to my room, still on hold; only when the associate answered did I hang up. The chair was finally fixed two hours later. At check-in, I was also denied the early arrival I’d requested when booking, despite having a printout. The associate was too busy eating to be polite and spoke to my party with food in her mouth. Very rude. I’ll stay at Embassy next visit.
I called the Holiday inn Express & Suites Fayetteville South in North Carolina to confirm my reservation, but didn’t have the reservation number with me. The man who answered was very rude and said he couldn’t search by my name. I explained that I thought I’d accidentally deleted the confirmation email, and asked if they couldn’t find my name if I showed up without the number. He said no, then insisted I’d never had a reservation because otherwise I’d have the number. He said people often book online, complain about the rate, and claim they don’t have a confirmation when no reservation was actually confirmed. I asked once more if he could look it up by name. He refused, made a few more rude comments, and hung up.
On our trip from NY to Orlando, we stayed here twice and rented two rooms because we were seven and there weren’t any single-room options for us. The first night was okay, but the food was expensive for what it was and took forever, even though the server was really nice. Breakfast wasn’t included, was very expensive, and took forever too. The reason for my one-star rating is bed bugs in one of the rooms. My parents had to switch rooms in the middle of the night, and my mom was still dealing with swelling from the bites a week and a half later. Reception was nice and understanding, and moved them to another room right away. When I checked out the next morning, I had to leave early to beat NY traffic, so I was told to expect a call from the manager to make things right about the bed bugs. A week and a half later, I’m still waiting for even an apology. Needless to say, I won’t stay at a Holiday Inn again.
