Alice made the stay special, from the filling, scratch-made organic breakfasts and endless hot coffee to her stories about local history and suggestions for things to see nearby. We had great conversations, too. The house was spotless, with interesting art throughout, and the bed and linens were comfortable. My husband and I spent three nights at Casa de la Pradera and found the quiet setting just what we wanted. It's in Amador County wine country, a few minutes from Shenandoah Valley wineries and away from city bustle. Rates are reasonable, and Plymouth is about a 10-minute drive for restaurants and shops. This isn't the Ritz-Carlton, but for us it was a real treat. Next time we're in Amador County, we'll come straight back. Thanks, Alice, and we hope Sally recovers fully soon.

Alice is such a lovely host, and breakfast with the coffee was wonderful. The place is tucked away, just right if you want to get away from everything. We had a great view and a big, comfortable queen bed. The room smelled like lavender, too.

I asked the host if I could join her for dinner, and it was delicious, a really nice surprise. This is a small bed and breakfast on a working farm. There's no cell service or Wi-Fi, so it's a good fit if you're hoping to unplug out in the country.

Alice was a wonderful host, and the hospitality was great. Her egg dishes were fabulous. Definitely worth seeing if you haven't had the chance to experience this getaway.

The dog was very friendly, and the kids loved seeing the chickens. We brought two children under three, which was probably our mistake, since the place isn't especially suited to kids that young. I think kids four and up would have a blast. Great location and a lovely host.
