Thorp House Inn & Cottages

I’ve stayed in four of the six cottages over six different vacation years, and each one has its own appeal. The private decks are a lovely feature. On my latest visit, in October 2025, I stayed in Cottage #3 (Dove). It has a more retro look, with paneled walls in the main living areas and a vintage-feel kitchen. I was pleasantly surprised by the partial water view and large soaking tub. The second bedroom in #3 is tiny, though it worked as a closet since I was traveling solo. The other cottages I’ve tried had plenty of space in both bedrooms and worked well when two of us needed separate rooms. The hospitality team is consistently friendly and helpful, the cottages are kept clean, and the king bed was exceptionally comfortable.

Dove Cottage was just right for my boyfriend and me on my birthday weekend. I loved its cozy feel, especially coming back to settle in after a rainy day in April. The location was great too, and I’d love to return.

The cottage was cute, with a fireplace and comfy beds and pillows, and it was convenient for getting into town. Fish Creek itself is adorable. There was a floral mothball smell in the cottage, though. They might want to stop using that for people with asthma.

We had a very quiet, private stay in cottage #2, Teal Cottage. It’s a block off the main street and close to restaurants, shops, and the waterfront. The decor was lovely, and the place was comfortable, with a gas fireplace, two bedrooms, and a smaller kitchen and bathroom that had everything we needed. We stayed five nights and are already planning another Door County trip, with a stay at the Thorp Cottages.
