The L Motel - Downtown Flagstaff

I’m unlikely to stay at The L Motel again unless I have no other options. The bed was comfortable enough and the bathroom towels were clean, but the pillows looked worn out. The shower curtain was yellowed and had broken rings, and the TV remote only worked when I stood right in front of the screen. I also heard Route 66 traffic, and during a windy snowstorm the wind whistled through the room and cold air came in. A mat just inside the door would help guests leave wet shoes there, especially with Flagstaff’s winter snow. At arrival, reception was empty because staff had left the property. An older woman was waiting outside in the cold for a replacement key after leaving hers in her room. Reception returned about 20 minutes later, and my check-in was then quick and simple. I was surprised The L Motel had a 7.4 on Booking.com. That rating felt undeserved.

The manager’s kindness made a real difference for me. He was professional and genuinely caring, and went out of his way to make my stay easier and more comfortable. Service like that is rare. Thanks again for all your help.

The property felt very safe, and the room was spacious with a huge bathroom. It also smelled amazing. I’d traveled from Texas and hadn’t accounted for the time change, but they let me check in at noon. The front desk clerk was very kind.

The beds were comfortable, but there were some issues around the bathroom. The door wouldn’t shut all the way and needs to be shaved down. The shower curtain is screwed in too close to the water and rubs against you, so a rounded rod would work better. Every so often, noises from the ceiling or walls sounded like they could be rodents.
