The room looked clean, from the bathroom to the linens, and I couldn’t see any stains. But what really made check-in feel welcoming was Natalie on the night shift. It was midnight, I was alone in Asheville for the first time, and I didn’t have anywhere to sleep. She was so sweet, kind, and gentle that I wanted to write this before I’d even spent the night. If someone in leadership sees this, Natalie deserves some Jamaican snacks. She’s homesick.

We only ended up eating rolled oats because there wasn’t much left: a couple of bananas, two sausages, and about a tablespoon of eggs. They charged us $15 per person, and a woman said I couldn’t take a banana when I left. There were no waffles, pancakes, or cinnamon rolls, and no flavored coffee or tea. Breakfast wasn’t included, even for members, and nobody mentioned that at check-in. It was really frustrating. A shame for Holiday Inn.

A few minutes after we got to the room, the front desk called to check if anything was wrong. Nothing was, but I appreciated that they asked. The staff were kind and handled our special request perfectly and discreetly. Both the hotel and room were spotless. I’ve stayed in plenty of mid-tier hotels, and I wish they were all this nice. There’s a restaurant and a bar that stays open fairly late, and the location is nice. The room had clean, modern decor, and the front desk staff were very friendly.
