Blue Rock

The drinks were great, and both the carrot salad and crudo were the best starters we’ve ever had. We also enjoyed the eggplant and fried chicken for dinner. The service was outstanding, too. We loved our time there and would happily return, whether for a casual meal or a more upscale dinner.

The thoughtful touches made our first anniversary at Blue Rock feel so personal. We were welcomed with complimentary sparkling wine, and our custom menu said, “Happy Anniversary — cheers to one.” The room felt intimate and private, and Sous Chef Diego and the rest of the team helped make the evening warm and welcoming. Head Chef Aaron planned a five-course menu for us ahead of time. Each dish was creative, comforting, and well balanced, with one course flowing nicely into the next. We kept pausing to savor it all. Pastry Chef Ebony made a delicious custom cake and also served us that night. She was warm and attentive, anticipating what we needed and adding a personal touch throughout. We’ll cherish the memory of this meal as the start of many anniversaries to come. Every gesture showed real care, and we’re already looking forward to going back. We can’t recommend Blue Rock enough.

The inn is a lovely spot for couples, with pretty interiors, a very clean space, and exceptionally kind staff. Friendly horses add to the farm feel, even though it’s close to DC. Such a nice getaway.

That dessert deserves a special mention. It felt like a three Michelin star course, and the rest of the five-course prix fixe dinner was just as thoughtfully made. We could choose the main entree, and the kitchen’s care showed in the high-quality ingredients, unusual combinations, and beautiful presentation. The charming setting and fresh, pleasing decor made the evening feel like a little vacation. We were still talking the next morning about how good dinner had been. It was a privilege to dine there, and since we live nearby, I’m eager to come back and see what the creative team serves next.
