Residence Inn By Marriott Flint

The party we’d planned was completely derailed. We had booked adjoining rooms two months ahead for my child’s birthday pool party, and everything was confirmed. With 20 people, we were suddenly told on the day that the rooms weren’t available and the pool was closed. Staff sent us to a “sister hotel” to use its pool, but that one was closed too. We were left scrambling with kids, parents, gifts, and decorations, with nowhere to hold the event we’d paid and planned for. The lack of communication, organization, and basic care was unbelievable, and it was incredibly stressful. I wouldn’t recommend booking if you need reliability, honesty, or advance notice of major changes. Completely unacceptable. Never again.

Our family suite was spotless, with all new furnishings, and the kitchen amenities were handy. The front counter staff helped us out with little things we’d forgotten to bring, and more. The Residence Inn is being renovated. It was fantastic, and we’ll return.

Traffic getting in is terrible, and there’s just one awful entrance. The parking lot is trash, and the smell, appearance, and feel inside reminded me of a Days inn, a comfort inn, or maybe an econo Lodge. The hotel is under full renovation, but they should let people booking online and companies know that. Even as a platinum member I couldn’t get in 20 minutes early. The young woman at the counter was left alone and didn’t fully understand the job, which wasn’t her fault. The staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing or want to be at work, and didn’t care when a platinum member walked in. I was completely disappointed and shocked that this is considered a Residence Inn by Marriott. Whoever owns it should be fired. I don’t recommend it.

I’m a Platinum Elite Lifetime member and usually stay at Marriott properties, but this was by far my worst Marriott experience. There was no breakfast despite it being advertised, no toilet paper holder, a broken wall light, and the room wasn’t made up. The room was well below expectations, the hallway smelled of cannabis, an elevator was out, and construction materials were left around the parking area, which felt unsafe. I understand renovations, having experienced them at other hotels, but this one gave me no warning. At checkout I told Noor my concerns, and she said she’d tell manager Austin. Austin never called or even emailed. This has left me with a bad taste for Marriott Bonvoy hotels, and I’ll stay away from this one. There should be a zero-star rating.
