We drove from Montreal after calling ahead to explain that we'd arrive very late for check-in. The agent said it wouldn't be a problem, and even said there was plenty of room and I didn't need to book. I insisted because it was over a 7-hour drive and we didn't want surprises. She took a reservation for October 10-13 and noted the late arrival. We reached the hotel around 10:00 a.m. on October 11. The front desk man checked and said everything was sold out and there was no availability. He said our reservation had been cancelled because we hadn't shown up. We explained the call and reservation, but he seemed angrier than we were and quickly said he'd call the police and we had to leave the property. We weren't intimidated. We were tourists doing nothing wrong or illegal. We were exhausted, and he showed no empathy, courtesy, understanding, or customer service. We left the lobby extremely disappointed and still wonder why he brought up the police. We won't return or recommend this place. That man shouldn't be working a hotel or motel lobby.

This was around my birthday. I booked through Priceline, then called to cancel within five minutes, but the night auditor refused to refund me and said a manager had to be there. I believe that was a lie, since family members of mine have worked in the hotel industry for years. I'll never book a hotel through Priceline again. I should've just used my sister's discount.

The section I stayed in looks like it's had major renovations, and the whole place was clean inside and out, including the lobby. The staff were welcoming and seemed happy to have guests. Prices were better than at other hotels nearby, and there are plenty of places to eat. It's close enough to the floral park railroad station to walk to. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

The room was just okay, and the hotel is pretty pricey, but that's New York, I guess. There are great restaurants nearby, including Floral Park diner and pizza bar across the street from the diner. If you manage to park in the hotel lot, leave your car there. It fills up after dark, and the city is handing out tickets. Just Uber wherever you need to go.
