Hilton Garden Inn Jackson/Flowood

The staff were friendly, and the location is good, but the room felt dated, as did the basic TV. Part of the remote didn't work. On arrival I was told the key cards were malfunctioning, so I'd need an escort to get back into my room if I went out. The $10 breakfast buffet was also disappointing: fruit, yogurt, bread, cereal, and waffles, much like a continental breakfast other hotels include with the stay.

The main reason I’m giving this two stars is that, as of 1/3/26, there were no room keys. The front desk lady had to let you in each time, so leaving meant either keeping the door cracked and hoping nobody went in, or asking her to escort you back. With people checking out in the morning, that could be interesting. If rooms had keys, I’d probably give it three or four stars. If you’re planning to stay here in January 2026 and keys matter to you, call to ask before booking. Room numbers were lying on the floor against the wall outside the doors, and construction was happening in the lobby. The hotel seems older or may have been poorly maintained, though renovations appear to be underway. It wasn't horrible for a hotel near the airport. Our room was clean, the front desk lady was very nice, and the tucked-away location was quiet with little traffic. You can hear planes outside in the distance, but I haven't heard them from the room. The heat and A/C worked fine. The bathroom fixtures need replacing: they were poorly installed, with rusty metal and broken stoppers. There are shops nearby and restaurants within walking distance along sidewalks. I haven't tried breakfast yet, so we'll see.

I stayed here six years ago, when it was a well-kept, clean HGI with good customer service. Coming back now, none of that seems to be left. The place was filthy, with broken and rusty things everywhere. There were no thank-yous, smiles, hotel information, or help. Customer service felt completely absent. Hilton should take down its signs right away.

The location is fantastic if you're flying out the next morning, and Half Shell is an easy walk down the street. Service was fine. The rooms could use an update, and a bigger TV would be an easy improvement since TVs are cheap these days.
