Comfort Suites Foley

The staff were great, and I slept well without any complaints. It's an older, basic hotel, but the room was clean and had a microwave and fridge. Breakfast was simple and the same each day: egg patties, sausage patties, waffles, biscuits, and a few pastries. The beach is a little under 20 minutes away.

The breakfast area wasn't clean or being managed in the morning, and every table was dirty, so there was nowhere clean to sit. Our room was a letdown for over $200 for one night. It smelled musty and felt humid, with mold spots on the ceiling, bathroom, and living area. When I asked Pamela at the front desk for another room, she offered room spray because this was the only one available. The window only had a partial blackout curtain, so the room stayed bright overnight. The carpet was dingy, and the bed comforters were dirty, with one torn. I would avoid this hotel.

Pamela's service was the best part of my visit for a soccer tournament. She recommended somewhere to eat, kept the front chairs and tables clean, and was kind after a long day. Her dedication really showed. The $4 charge for a 20-ounce soft drink, though, seems excessive. I worked at Coca-Cola for six years and know production costs are generally under a dollar. I understand paying for convenience, and not needing a credit card for a drink would be nice, but the pricing still raises questions about fairness. Without Pamela's excellent service, I'd feel differently about this stay. I hope the hotel considers prices that work better for guests and employees.

The room was roomy, clean, and comfortable, except that couch-chair thing. I'd have rather sat on the floor. Breakfast was average. The parking lot was practically empty, so I don't know why a family of six with little kids was placed next to an older couple. For two hours I heard a toddler crying, a small child running up and down the hall, and adults talking in the hall outside my door. The front desk did move us, thankfully, but we shouldn't have had to ask. I guess I am that guy.
