Washout Cottage is right across from the beach, so we spent plenty of time walking and taking in the sights, from dolphins and pelicans to shells and surfers. Charleston was an easy drive for a dose of history and architecture. Then it was back to the quiet, laid-back feel of Folly Beach. We had a lovely visit.

There’s plenty of room in the house, and it was clean and stocked with dishes, pots, coffee makers, and more. Parking is underneath the unit, sheltered from the weather. You’re just steps from the sand via the private walkway, with restaurants and shops around the corner. At 207 E. Arctic Ave., it’s set back enough to feel private while still being right on Folly Beach. I’d recommend it for a family trip or a couples getaway.

Beach access is right out back, and it felt like our own little paradise. The outdoor areas have sunny spots for dining and shady places to relax. Inside, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the high-end furnishings and professional decorating made the house beautiful throughout. This is easily my favorite beach vacation spot.

We watched sunsets from the floating dock, with gorgeous marsh and river views from the living room and both outdoor porches. Our group of six had lots of space, and being right beside the pool was so convenient. There were bikes, a couple of crab traps, ocean toys, and a few beach chairs in the unit, though we brought our own. Center St and its restaurants and bars are an easy walk away. Three cars can park under the unit, and there’s also free street parking on the road into the complex. There’s no grill because the HOA doesn’t allow them. We had a beautiful week at Folly Beach and would definitely stay here again.
