Comfort Suites Cincinnati

I've stayed here a few times before, but this visit from 6/7 to 6/10 was easily the worst. There were Gold Fish snacks in the pullout bed, a Twix under one bed, and Skittles scattered around. The room looked like someone had rushed through cleaning: it hadn't been vacuumed or checked properly. The hall and room carpets were stained and filthy, and really need replacing. Don't walk on them barefoot. The room felt dated, and the furniture looked close to falling apart. Its fridge had no freezer, and though the room was supposed to sleep six, there were towels and washcloths for only four. The blackout curtains were broken, so a parking-lot spotlight came straight into the room. When we asked for cleaning, it never happened. We were told to find housekeeping ourselves, then had to get towels from the lobby. They said there weren't enough and gave us pool towels instead. About a day and a half after we checked in, another guest had a bowel accident in the pool. It had to be drained, but wasn't cleaned and refilled before we left. The hot tub was covered with plywood, the pool looked discolored, metal in the pool area was rusty, and paint was peeling from the ceiling. The elevator groaned and strained like it was on its last legs. With what they charge, rooms should be cleaned daily unless the do-not-disturb sign is up. This isn't what I'm used to from the Comfort Inn and Suites brand, and we won't stay here again. I hope the next Comfort Inn and Suite we visit pays more attention to guests' needs and keeps the property in better shape.

It was easy to find, but the room was in rough shape. The sofa bed mattress was disgusting, the curtains were stained, and the room reeked of smoke. The night manager tried to sort out the mattress. When I checked out and told the desk what had happened, they went quiet and then just handed me the receipt. I won't stay here again.

We won't be back. They charged both the card used for the reservation and the card we used at check-in, and the breakfast looked burnt and nasty. They charged us $156 twice, plus another $50 on each card, which is three times the deposit. They still have an extra $50 on hold, and took $106 even though the room was $90. They also added $16 in taxes, and I think we'd already been charged $100 for the room. The hotel was empty, and it felt like they thought they could overcharge us. Poor service.

The manager was very kind and let us cancel for a refund, and I appreciate that. We were disappointed, though, because we couldn't stay and had to find another hotel at the last minute. The front desk employee was rude, couldn't check us in, and spoke to my brilliant wife like she was a toddler. We'd prepaid, but he charged us twice as well as adding the $50 hold. Their system was down, so they couldn't make room keys.
