Hampton Inn Forrest City

After two days here, I can say the renovation has made this Hampton Inn a great option in the area. Everything felt new, and the work was excellent. The staff were welcoming, especially Rhonda at the front desk when I checked in. Breakfast tasted good, and the hotel was very clean. The owner even stopped by to greet guests and personally checked in with a housekeeping staff member. As a lifetime Hilton Diamond member, I like to write a review when I find a high-quality property. Rates were reasonable, certainly better than nearby Memphis prices. Five stars.

We arrived around 11 p.m. Tuesday without a reservation and left about 8 the next morning. The front desk staff member was extremely kind and helpful, and there were plenty of rooms available. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the morning continental breakfast had plenty of good choices.

Breakfast was a pleasant surprise, with bacon, cooked potatoes, egg white frittatas, several other choices, juice, iced water, and cold milk. I liked the frittata, and I appreciate having milk for my coffee. The staff were friendly and helpful, and Jose's is a good Mexican restaurant within walking distance. The hotel is conveniently close to the freeway, yet quiet at night. The room was nice, but the lighting needs work. The corner floor lamp didn't work, and the only other light besides the ones between the beds was a tiny desk lamp. It wasn't enough for reading, working, or finding clothes in my suitcase in the morning. The bathroom lighting was good. I've noticed poor lighting at several Hampton Inns compared with other brands where I regularly stay. A really good hotel otherwise, but brighter room lights would help.

The breakfast space was spotless and fully stocked, with the attendant keeping it that way quietly and efficiently. Our modern, clean room had plenty of light and lots of places to plug in our electronics. Both the morning and evening desk clerks were friendly, helpful, and efficient, even with several people checking in at once.
