Best Western University Inn

I didn't expect the hotel to be this good. The front desk people are local, smart, and charming, and their recommendations were great because they know the area. My room was upgraded and so huge I didn't even use half the space. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, and coffee was left out all day for whenever you wanted a cup. A really great experience.

Service was friendly and efficient, but the motel is not worth the current price. They say renovations are underway, yet I saw no evidence of improvements. It looks run down inside and out, despite what the pictures suggest. The walls are paper thin. I heard the neighbors' sink and shower every time they used them, could make out their conversation even though they weren't loud, and heard every door slam in the parking lot. The narrow bathroom had a creepy homemade mosaic. To get into the shower, which had no door, I had to close the bathroom door first. You're better off paying extra to stay somewhere else.

The staff were nice, and the university campus is within easy walking distance. But for the money, I'd definitely go elsewhere. It's more of a motel, with room doors opening to the outside, which the pictures don't show. It was noisy, and the walls are thin. It's a two-star hotel, so I can understand the condition to a point, but the place isn't in great shape. There was no soap in the shower, the showerhead didn't work well, and the small fridge was loud. I don't know how some of the other five-star reviews can be legitimate.

The location is convenient, but the room was a dump at a premium price. For what I paid for a standard room, I could get a nice hot tub suite in downtown Denver. On top of that, the hotel charged for parking, and I don't know why. I selected the early check-in option online, but at 2:00pm I was told none of the rooms were clean. They offered to let me sit in my vehicle in the lot for an hour, then said early check-in probably wouldn't happen because they were short staffed. For that room price, the service should have been better.
