The Armstrong Hotel

The room walls seem to have no insulation. I could hear the neighbors through the bathroom wall at all hours. At the restaurant and bar, the manager carded almost everyone, including both people with me who were in their 40s. When she stepped away and a server took over, hardly anyone seemed to get carded. It was visible from my table by the door, and having to stop and show ID was annoying, especially since one person in my group was bald with a long gray beard. It was called “Wine Wednesday,” but our waitress didn’t explain that the wine we ordered wasn’t included in the Happy Hour deal, so we paid full price for our glasses. The Armstrong Hotel looked stylish, but it didn’t deliver on the substance. When a hit-and-run in the hotel parking lot left $2,000 in damage to my new car, the manager was M I A. Rosie at the front desk had said he’d handle it after returning from his Christmas holiday and contact me. Several weeks and calls leaving messages later, I’m still waiting for his email. I wasn’t asking for compensation, just help figuring out which red car had backed into mine without leaving a note. I don’t mind paying for quality, but this didn’t feel like money well spent.

The room had a real duvet, a very comfortable bed, an in-room sound machine, and a Nespresso. We also chose a room with a soaking tub, which felt like a treat after a day of hiking. Everything was right nearby, from restaurants and coffee shops to shopping, and downtown Fort Collins was especially festive for the holidays. My partner and I had a great couple of nights here for our annual in-state staycation. I’d happily come back.

Mia was so kind and helpful, and her customer service really made us feel looked after. The hotel is charming and clean, with a welcoming feel as soon as you walk in. We had a wonderful night away at The Armstrong Hotel and highly recommend it.

The rooms are cute, with a Nespresso and robes, and the location in old town is perfect. I believe the kind, attentive manager’s name is Rosie. She made our stay wonderful. It’s a beautiful, iconic hotel, and the best boutique option in Fort Collins. There’s also a great speakeasy downstairs, Ace Gillette's, with beautifully made high end cocktails and a nice menu.
