The Elizabeth Hotel, Autograph Collection

The hotel is beautiful, but that means little if guests can’t trust their belongings to be safe. My fiancé and I stayed at The Elizabeth Hotel over Christmas hoping for a memorable holiday and engagement season. Instead, our Christmas gifts and a check for a large sum meant as our wedding gift were stolen from the hotel. The way the operations staff handled it made things worse. They repeatedly suggested the gifts had been “misplaced,” even though they were secured and hadn’t simply disappeared on their own. It felt like gaslighting, as though we were being pushed to doubt what we knew had happened, instead of seeing the hotel acknowledge a serious theft on its property and investigate properly. We were also told nobody had been in our room, despite staff having cleaned it during our stay. Their proposed fix was a gift card for the restaurant. That felt wildly inappropriate after our personal belongings and Christmas gifts were stolen. There was no meaningful accountability or real resolution, just a token gesture instead of proper care and security responsibility. The trip became stressful and disappointing, something we’ll always associate with this hotel and Marriot. I’d strongly caution people to think twice about the security and how management responds when problems arise. It’s a gorgeous veneer over a serious lack of guest care and security.

I loved the music theme, it’s a lot of fun. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve had in a hotel, with fluffy pillows, sheets that didn’t feel like paper, and thick, fluffy towels without a bleach smell. It felt close to home while still being a high-end hotel. One of the nicer places I’ve stayed, with fantastic elegance and professionalism.

The Emporium is a great restaurant, and we ate there many times. The hotel has a cozy, homey feel right in downtown, with everything in Fort Collins within walking distance. The staff were wonderful and accommodating, including Reese, Dylan, Sydney, Will, and Caiden. Karen with the house staff was very responsive and did a wonderful job too. You can’t go wrong here.

The atmosphere is calm and pleasant, and the reception staff were extremely kind and helpful. The rooms are very clean without that strong, unpleasant smell from hotel cleaning chemicals. There are record players in the rooms, with records you can borrow and play, and you can get instruments to play too. I didn’t try the restaurant or food.
