Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Beach

The hotel is nice and newly remodeled, and the restaurant staff were great. But this was my second work stay here, and the same problems came up both times. I gave the first visit a pass because the renovation was underway. This time, housekeeping made the bed and left fresh towels, but the sheets weren't changed, the floor wasn't vacuumed, and the bathroom and room weren't properly cleaned. A wrapper I missed when throwing it away stayed on the floor for four days, and the coffee maker had the same used pod in it for four days. I went to the front desk every day to get a charge sorted out, but nobody helped. I asked for the GM daily and was told she was busy and would contact me. She never called or emailed, and no one offered other help. After checkout, I called and got a very rude response from the front desk. The $60 parking charge that wasn't disclosed when booking seemed shady to me, though that's not what this review is about. Front desk, housekeeping, and management were all horrible.

We liked the location when we stayed here several years ago, but this visit was awful. We paid extra for an upgraded corner room with breakfast for two nights and applied for a $20 early check-in after the hotel emailed to offer it. They accepted by email, yet when we arrived, staff said confirmation didn't mean they'd actually give us early check-in. We had to leave our luggage, with no one available to help carry it. Check-in was difficult too, and they initially assigned us a standard king room instead of the room category we'd booked. Our renovated room was spacious, but pile drivers were pounding the ground in the construction directly below us, making it impossible to nap. Breakfast was confusing: nobody was there to show guests to a table or say they had to order at the counter, so people sat waiting for service. Tea and coffee were self-serve in paper cups. We had prepaid breakfast but still paid $15. We liked the beach loungers, but the umbrella cost $70. The room hadn't been made up when we returned. The desk said we had to request service, something the person who checked us in hadn't mentioned. At the upper bar, dinner was expensive, $200 for bar food, including just a salad for me. When we asked a manager to hear our concerns, he kept saying we'd get a $17 discount on purchases, which we hadn't been told was included. At checkout, I learned the discount applied only to food and reset each day, so it hadn't covered our first night. Florida's many fees brought the two-night bill to well over $1,000. The location didn't make up for the poor service and all the problems. There weren't enough employees, and the ones there seemed clueless. I don't recommend staying here.

The location is hard to beat, with immediate beach access, and the remodeled rooms and service were fine. I stayed in late December 2025, when rates were around $500 a night. The concern is the major construction right next door. Staff said it had only recently begun and didn't know when it would end, and they didn't mention it until asked. You can't hear it from inside the room, but the pool deck and pool bar are another story. Be ready to talk over an 80-foot jackhammer pounding the ground nearby. Keep that in mind before spending that much to stay here.

The restaurant food was really good, and the hotel itself is new and nice. Our room was roomy, with a door to close off the bedroom. Chris at valet was great when I needed to check my bag, and the valet staff were very helpful. The beach is just across the street.
