Days Inn by Wyndham Fort Lauderdale Airport Cruise Port

I chose this place for the free airport shuttle. It's somewhat run down, though not too badly, and the breakfast is decent for a Days Inn. The check-in desk and breakfast room are in a separate building from the guest rooms, which seemed odd but wasn't a problem. When my wife and I got back after a long day, our room door was ajar. Luckily, nothing was taken. I'd stay again. Update: I stayed again because it's a great location for us, with my son living just a few miles away. This time there were the usual issues: a worm on the floor that I got rid of before my wife saw it, a dirty floor, and pieces of laminate coming up. The door had a huge gap all around, though it still opened and closed okay. The shower head wasn't installed properly and pointed more toward the wall. The whole place needs a complete makeover.

We've been to Fort Lauderdale before, and this was the worst hotel we've tried. The toilet ran all night, there were roaches everywhere, and ladybugs flew around the walls. Strange stains on the floor made the place feel even more unsettling. Most employees were very rude, though Bob at the gym was great and Nicolas at the front desk gave great service. The bathroom smelled like mildew. At 2:00 AM, I went in to pee and found a worm crawling around the drain. I wouldn't recommend this hotel and definitely won't return.

I wouldn't recommend staying here. The room was dusty, smelled of cigarettes, and several things were broken: the microwave wouldn't open, the hair dryer wouldn't start, and the TV cable kept cutting out. The curtain was broken, so I had to prop it with the door lock to cover the window. As I was leaving, I saw a couple arguing at the desk because someone else had been given their room and walked in while the woman was showering. The neighborhood wasn't reassuring either.

We ended up leaving and booking somewhere else, then asked our credit card company to charge back the Days Inn. The room was filthy, smelled moldy, and water came up through the floor when we stepped on it. The faucets ran yellowish water, the bathroom walls were grimy, and there was brown gunk on the inside of the bathroom door that looked like it might be feces. The motel we moved to had normal water, so this didn't seem to be a local issue. The city health inspector really needs to visit. My parents and I were supposed to stay here before a cruise. They had booked two rooms and arrived before me. When I came later with my reservation number, the desk clerk said they couldn't find it and that the hotel was full. At around 8 pm on Jan 28, 2024, she told me they didn't have the room we'd booked and acted as if it wasn't her problem. She seemed annoyed that I was asking. She was speaking to someone on speakerphone or a radio and told them to “shut up”; I briefly thought she meant me, though I think I was just interrupting her personal call while asking about the reservation. It turned out the problem was her mistake and could be fixed. My parents had a room with two queen beds and said I could stay with them. Once inside, I noticed the wet floor. Water seeped up between the cracks in the cheap flooring when stepped on, which would explain the mold smell. My mom said the water was yellow-brown, and after flushing, the toilet filled with that same color. When I closed the bathroom door, I saw chunks of brown gunk below the handle and didn't want to inspect them further. I tried to reach management or support, but Wyndham's support site only offered email and said a reply could take a couple of days. Calling the hotel just got me the same rude clerk. When I told her we were leaving because of the conditions, she said my parents had checked in and must have had the second room too. They had checked in with her, but she apparently didn't remember, and had been rude to them as well, making them feel like a bother. I told her again that we weren't staying because of the room and the water coming through the floor. She then asked which room we had. When I said 119, she called it one of their best. I don't see how that was supposed to help. The room also had dirty walls and doors. I paid for none of that, and in my experience this was the worst customer service I've seen. I've worked in customer service myself, and I don't treat people like the entitled jerks I've had to deal with.
