Super 8 Fort Mitchell/Cinci Oh Downtown

I stayed two nights and won’t be back. The one front desk guy did try to help by moving me to another room, which I checked and found no bugs, though it still wasn’t very clean. In the first room, the bed had just been remade with the same items, and the sheets and blankets hadn’t been changed. The floors hadn’t been swept or mopped either. I asked for clean bedding because the sheets had cum stains and what looked like chili all over them. Housekeeping had me strip the bed and leave the sheets and blankets outside, then told me I’d have to make the bed myself when new ones arrived. That turned out to be lucky, because the supposedly clean sheets he brought had baby bed bugs all over them. Their laundry storage must be infested. I don’t recommend staying here. Pay the extra 10 a night and stay somewhere clean and bug-free. That’s the only reason I’m giving it two stars instead of one.

People are making too much of this place. It wasn’t that bad, and it’s somewhere to rest your head if you aren’t expecting luxury. I don’t know what people mean about it being a bad area, since there are really nice houses and businesses nearby. The blanket had cigarette burns, and the bathroom door screws were coming loose so it wouldn’t shut. Those were my only concerns. The room was clean, and I saw no bed bugs or cockroaches. If you want a thorough visit with top-tier lounging and service, go to a hotel. This is a motel where people are just looking for a place to lie down during whatever kind of visit.

The road closure made the place a little hard to find, but we got there. The front desk guy was really nice, and the bed was comfortable. There were holes in the blankets from smoking, but that’s what you expect in a smoking room. It was nice not to have to go outside in the rain and cold to smoke, since many places don’t offer smoking rooms anymore. The rooms need updating, and that would make this a better hotel. The Wi-Fi didn’t work, which sucked. I didn’t ask the front desk about it, though, and I’m sure he would have tried to help. I’ll definitely go back. I usually stay in 3.5- to 5-star hotels, but we picked this one because we could smoke inside and wanted a little time alone away from all our kids.

The location right off the highway is good, but the building was terribly dirty and seemed to have drug abuse issues. I checked in with my children and found a meth pipe in our room after it fell from a light fixture while they were playing. Thankfully, I saw it before they touched it. I wasn’t moved to another room or offered any other resolution. They only said they would speak with housekeeping about checking the rooms and light fixtures more thoroughly. This place is asking for a lawsuit if someone’s child accidentally ODs on drug paraphernalia left behind through their negligence.
