DiamondHead Beach Resort

MoJoes Coffee is a good stop in the morning, though I wish it opened a little earlier. When we want to be near the town center, we book Diamondhead. It's close to downtown and has what we need right there: beach access, food and drinks at Cabanas, and an indoor restaurant for a nicer meal. The service is always top notch. We usually switch between staying by the town center and the south end of the island. We've had a great time at Diamondhead's pool both with and without the kids.

Those heavy gray and white bar chairs downstairs are like trying to move a beer keg. I feel for older folks who have to put in what feels like a full day's manual labor just to sit at the bar. Diamondhead, please replace all of them. The four black stools you seemed to be testing were light, sturdy, durable, and really comfortable. If that was a trial run, switch the rest out right away.

The location is great and the rooms and amenities are nice, but the service fell short for what we paid. At $450 a night, I expected more than a single visit during our four-night stay. We checked in Wednesday and were told there'd be room service Friday. All they did was bring towels and empty the garbage. The bed wasn't made, sheets weren't changed, and nothing was picked up. I was told you only get full room service once if you stay five nights. We had to fetch extra toilet paper and dish soap ourselves. If the room won't be serviced, it should at least be stocked with extra essentials. It's a top notch property, but seems to be cutting too many costs for its prices.

Diamondhead has lovely rooms and impeccable service. Whether you're after a great dinner or a fruity drink by the beach, it's the best place on Fort Myers Beach. I highly recommend it.
