Sandpiper Gulf Resort

Getting from the pool to the beach was easy, and the kids loved going back and forth. We also enjoyed the courtyard games, including shuffleboard and bags, and the community grills. The kids chose grilling in over restaurants for a few meals. The rooms could use some updating, but the location and family-friendly setup mattered more to us. It made the trip easy and fun for our family of 6. We plan to stay again.

Parking could be better. Each room is supposed to have just one car, and if you go out at night you might not find a space when you return. Stacking cars under the third building can leave you hoping nobody blocks you in. Numbered spaces would be great. The resort itself was a perfect pick for us, far enough from the nightlife at the upper end of Fort Myers Beach, but close enough to reach quickly by bike or scooter. Our room had lots of space and great views. The adult-only pool was a nice escape for those of us without kids. The beach wasn't too crowded, with beautiful soft white sand and a great spot for sunsets. Staff were friendly and knew a lot about what the island offers.

The beach location is what I liked, and housekeeping was very good. The hotel itself was nice, with enough amenities if you're planning to spend most of your time at the beach. Make sure when booking that you understand ocean view and front beach aren't the same, the second is the better one. Parking is a problem because there are more rooms than spaces, and only ONE vehicle per room is allowed. Also watch the holds on your credit card. They mistakenly held $450 on mine, and I heard another guest complain about a $1000 hold. I liked staying here, but I'd have to think twice before booking again.

The lobby staff were consistently nice and helpful, and the grounds and pool were clean and well looked after. My wife and I stayed five days. Our room was clean and well equipped, and it was a great beachfront resort. We'll plan a return trip.
