The Bay Inn at the Lani Kai

We basically only slept and showered in the room. I liked the balcony, view, and amenities at the main hotel, but the room itself was very disappointing. Tiny bugs were around the bathroom sink and throughout the kitchen area. There was a dustpan and broom in the corner beside a pile of hair someone had left from a haircut. It was supposed to be nonsmoking, yet smoke came through the ventilation. The air filter looked like it hadn’t been cleaned or changed in a year. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, and hope they improve the cleaning.

We had a great time, and I’ve got nothing against the hotel itself, but the walls let you hear absolutely everything. Around midnight we were trying to sleep when people came in with a small child who was crying and screaming. I understand it was late, but the parents were telling the kid they’d spank them. Don’t keep a child up until midnight and expect them to be an angel, just saying. I could hear every word and felt bad for the kid. The hotel needs some renovations, at least soundproofing. Other than that, we had a great time.

The bathroom was especially dirty, with mold in the shower, hair on the walls, and grime on all the walls. We asked for spray bleach and for it to be cleaned while we went to dinner. When we got back, it looked untouched, so I called the front desk again. This time someone finally sprayed bleach, though the bottle was labeled glass cleaner, which I think is illegal. I almost asked for a discount or refund. I’ll never stay there again and will make sure my friends avoid the place. My friend has photos showing what I said about the bathroom.

The one good thing was the beach across the street, which also saved us the expensive parking on the island. Fort Myers Beach is a very good place, but I’m never coming back to this hotel. I booked for 4 people through Tmobile travel, but the room had only 1 bed and 1 sofa. I asked to switch to a two-bed room and waited three hours. The hotel and agency both said they couldn’t do anything, even if I paid to upgrade, so my family was stuck in a hotel that didn’t work for us and nobody took responsibility. I won’t book through Tmobile travel again, and this was my first and last time at this "hotel". Over four days, the pool was closed almost all the time, and the ice machine wasn’t working, except in the main building. They ask you to put out a sign if you want the room cleaned, but they didn’t clean it. They advertise it as a resort, yet beach chairs and umbrellas cost extra, and you can’t bring coolers.
