Economy Motel

After two nights here, a rainstorm hit on our second night and we woke up to about two inches of water. I went to the office to explain, and all I got was an offer of $75 plus tax off my next stay. No real reimbursement and not even an apology. I rent here regularly, but they don't seem to care about me or their business. Think before you act.

Online you get one story, then you arrive and the Habeebs give you another. If crack is your thing, most rooms come with a complimentary pipe or other paraphernalia. Need laundry, breakfast, or a swim? La Quinta is right across the street and at your disposal. You can haggle for a better deal if you have patience, and hopefully the curry smell won't bother you. Staying at the Economy Motel feels like a drug-fueled live-action reboot of " Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom ". Enjoy.

The location is good, just outside the heart of Destin, so prices are cheaper and you're away from the party bustle. It's an older hotel that's been remodeled recently. The old carpet and the funky smell it used to have are gone, the new front desk staff are accommodating, and parking is okay, though there's not a lot of space. If you're not too picky, it's a good place to get away.

Miss Terry has always been kind when I've stayed here. She works graveyard and asks how my son and I are doing. The room is always clean, and the location is great. For the best price I've found in the area, it's basic but has what we need: a TV, microwave, small fridge with a tiny freezer, and consistently clean bathrooms. They only provide bars of soap, so bring your own toiletries. That's fine by me for the price and service. We come here pretty often and will keep staying here.
