Fairway Inn

It was a little under a mile from the Greyhound bus stop, which worked out well. Even though I checked in late, someone was there to greet me. I could afford the room, which was a great rate, but didn’t have enough for the deposit. The employee kindly waived it and picked a room for me. He said no visitors as a condition, which was fine since I was traveling alone. The room was spacious and very clean, with high-quality soap and shampoo, soft towels, and a big, comfortable bed. I slept like a rock. They were doing construction at the hotel, so I even got a complimentary wake-up call! I had an exceptional stay and highly recommend it.

My room had roaches, and the shower started filling with water seconds after I turned it on. The ceiling had two different coats of paint. When I asked for utensils, the woman handed me a spoon with no plastic wrapping. I had no way of knowing who or what had touched it before.

We saw three small German cockroaches during our one-night stay, so I wouldn’t book here for an extended visit. Still, in a pinch it was okay. The room smelled fresh and clean when we entered, not like someone was covering up an odor. We pulled off the sheets to check for bed bugs and, thankfully, found none. There was no fitted sheet, just two flat ones, but that worked out fine. The floors were clean enough to walk on barefoot. I’d been nervous because of earlier reviews, but everything else was booked.

The one good thing I can say is that the swimming pool was very clean. Otherwise, I’d tell people to go next door to Days Inn, where at least the rooms are clean. My husband and I paid $72.00, but I’d rather spend $172.00 somewhere else. The rooms are old, dirty, and outdated, and the furniture looks like mismatched old Goodwill finds. There wasn’t even a bar of hand soap, and they had no iron. I asked the front desk for one, but the phone in the room didn’t work. People who live there were outside my window at 8:30 in the morning, talking loudly and being rude. At checkout, the owner came to my room without knocking and tried to push her way in when I was only five minutes late. Worst room I’ve ever stayed in. Don’t waste your money here!
